Mobile Surgical Services (MSS) has proven that sharing expensive medical resources enables better care to be delivered closer to the the homes of rural New Zealanders.

Day Surgery - With more than 14,000 elective day surgery operations completed aboard the Mobile Surgical Unit, MSS brings the operating theatre to the doorstep of rural communities.

Education - Rural health professionals are also supported through a range of education and training programmes. More than 35,000 hours of training and education have been provided over the last 10 years through a variety of both hands-on and virtual means.

Strong community partnerships are the key to the success. Rather than replacing existing health services, Mobile Surgical acts as a catalyst for communities and rural health professionals to develop a better rural health system. We work closely with the Ministry of Health, regional DHBs and local health organisations to provide treatment and education at more than 23 rural locations throughout New Zealand. Our promise is to deliver a safe, friendly and quality-driven service.
